30% Off Sale at Patagonia
Appears to be just a quick two-day sale, but Patagonia has a 30% off thing going on right now through the 19th. This is something they offered last year weeks before their main Winterfest Sale.

FYI, I was just in the Soho (NYC) store and found out that the winter sale is next week, February 11th - 16th. According to the sales person, the sale is not going to be as big this year as last and the pricing will be up to 50% off (last year was up to 60% off).
Great stuff Richard, thanks for the info. I've been doing some snooping around and found that last year it had ended on February 19th, so I knew it had to be right in that neighborhood this year. Interesting that the sale is only going up to 50% off. You would think that in this economic climate, Patagonia would be able to move significantly more goods at 60%. Hope you find some good stuff at the sale.
Shallower discounts despite weak economy: I wonder to what degree they cut back production for 2009 line, since by Jan. 2009 (when I guess orders contracted to China, Columbia, etc.) recession was creating a panicky, pessimistic situation in retail. Gazing at Patagonia catalogue in September, I found retail starting prices unusually stiff for the two clothing items I wanted. I assumed they would go begging at REI, for example: But they were gone from nearly all stores by Xmas and I had to really hunt the internet in January to find those two, and only one was slightly discounted. Their ''forge gray" color , though dull, is a favorite color for me, disguising dust, cat hair, and dirt in general; a hint of green in the gray that some don't like, but I do. --- and it seemed hardest color to find late in the season , except maybe black for some technical jackets. But, stores may have ordered fewer to start with in the more utilitarian colors.
Interesting John. Yeah, I'm sure they scaled back production but to hear that their pricey stuff sold quickly is pretty surprising. I guess there's a segment of the population for whom dips in the economy are irrelevant.
I too like the forge gray color though I seem to default to black when I'm looking for something from Patagonia. If I'm going to drop a pretty penny on one of their outerwear pieces, for instance, I want to make sure it's going to hide dirt/scratches/coffee stains. I think it'll be interesting to see what goes on sale tomorrow in the Winterfest and what sizes and colors are still around.
Hi - Melissa with Diamondback Tactical here. We have all of our Patagonia on clearance. Once the items are gone, they are gone. Check it out and include it in a post if you'd like. www.diamondbacktactical.com and then go to the clearance section. Colors are military-like (green and tan for the most part) and sizes are limited. I haven't sent the sale out to our mailing list yet, but plan on doing it in the next couple of days.
Thx!
