Patagonia for...J. Crew?

Interesting that J. Crew is now selling the Patagonia Boy's Down Sweater.  J. Crew has been selling outside brands for a while and in fact has upped their offering of products from other companies, but the Patagonia offering caught me off-guard.

I guess Patagonia has developed an urban following though its clothes have always been designed with mountain function in mind.  I'm interested to see what kind of response the jacket gets from J. Crew customers and whether or not J. Crew offers more Patagonia items in the future.

I work a part-time job doing coat check in a concert venue in NYC. Two winters ago, the big brand was North Face (specifically, black fleece, natch). Last winter, I started to see a lot of Patagonia. Yeah, it has become an urban brand. Hopefully the trend will pass quickly since this has drastically affected the amount of offerings during the recent sales. Grrrrrrr.

Uh oh! Thanks for the info--and from a guy who would know! You see first-hand what people are wearing. I guess quality is quality and people will eventually catch on to well made products. I think as long as Patagonia doesn't start allowing Eastbay to sell its stuff, we'll be okay. :)

Clearly you haven't ventured from the mountains to the city. There are more Patagonia Fleeces in Boston than on the highest summit in Patagonia. Being one of those city dwellers that love my beloved Patagonia Classic Retro X Fleece, don't find anything wrong with finding a lot of Patagonia in the city. For heavens sake I walk a mile to work everyday and want to wear a warm jacket, and guess what Patagonia is my choice, handsdown! Their products are wonderful!

Clearly I haven't! Actually though, I happen to live in a part of California that doesn't have a real Patagonia retailer nearby so the Patagonia sightings are few and far between. There is an REI nearby that sells Patagonia base layers, but not much else.

And Anon, the Retro-X is a great jacket--you definitely have a winner. I've thought about picking up a Retro-X myself. Is it heavy (with regard to weight)? When Patagonia has their sales, this is one piece that's often offered at a really good price.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to vote in the poll if you haven't already!
